MTI Jobs of Tomorrow Hits Funding Goal

Posted By: Tom Morrison Community,

The Metal Treating Institute is excited to announce it has hit its funding goal to begin production on the Jobs of Tomorrow Workforce Development project.  MTI had 23 companies commit to a total of $48,000 needed to jumpstart the project. The remaining $72,000 will be funded through a $30,000 grant from the MTI Educational Foundation and Furnaces North America 2024 Trade Show.

With the labor shortage being the #1 pain point and obstacle to future growth of MTI Member companies, the Jobs of Tomorrow project is focused on helping attract the next generation of workers to the heat treating industry.

Over the course of the next year, MTI, in partnership with Workerbee TV will produce (6) 22-minute docuseries episodes that unpack:

·      What is Heat Treating?

·      Heat Treating’s Impact on Society

·      Technology Shifts Taking Place in Heat Treating

·      Exciting Career Opportunities Available in Heat Treating

The (6) 22-minute docuseries episodes will also be produced into a shorter 4-minute version for micro-learning and a one-minute version for social media promotions.

All of these video resources will be available to MTI Members in an online video channel that will be shareable on your website. You will also be able to share the channel with your local high schools, technical trade schools, and colleges.

MTI’s six episodes will also appear in the Jobs of Tomorrow docuseries on Amazon Prime Streaming.

MTI President Jim Orr from Penna Flame recently stated at the MTI Summer Meeting, Jobs of Tomorrow is the most progressive workforce development strategy ever taken by MTI. The digital resources MTI Members will have access is going to be invaluable.  They are going to help us tell our story of this great industry in a way that will grow the pool of people we have access to for hiring.”

MTI’s Jobs of Tomorrow online channel will be connected to a new MTI job board where Members will be able to post open positions.

MTI’s Heat Treat 4.0 Task Force will begin the development and production of the Jobs of Tomorrowdocuseries in the next few months for delivery in 2024.
