MTI Develops New Purchase Order Checklist

As business moves past the pandemic, one of the biggest challenges for many commercial heat treaters is the turnover of key staff at OEMs who perform the buying function.  This turnover means that new personnel has to learn the purchase order and quality processes between the OEM and the commercial heat treater.

MTI is excited to announce a new resource tool for MTI Members to help with this education process.  The new Purchase Order Checklist, developed by a team of MTI commercial heat treaters, is a one-page comprehensive checklist of the key elements any OEM completing a PO will want to include.  The Purchase Order Checklist also has a short two-minute explanation video along with it.

Incomplete purchase orders lead to unnecessary phone calls, emails, and research, leaving much to guesswork that will waste valuable time.  In the heat treating supply chain, if a purchase order isn’t complete or with correct information, such as the part number, exact process required, specification to heat treat to, condition of materials, where the part is in the manufacturing process, and the method of packaging, you will spend double time in follow up with your heat treater to verify this information. Using this new MTI Member resource helps to ensure that your parts are heat treated correctly and timely, because PO instructions were correct and complete from the submission.  

The Metal Treating Institute has taken all the guesswork out of the purchase order process with our Purchase Order Checklist.  This checklist will be a highly-effective resource tool when an OEM prepares purchase orders.  Using this checklist will save valuable time and follow up calls with a heat treat supplier.
