March Brings Chapter Meetings, Technical Specs, and Recruitment Videos

Posted By: Tom Morrison Community,

Spring has sprung at MTI, which has brought a lot of member activity with Chapter meetings in the Midwest and Canada, meeting of the MTI Technical Standards Committee, and the filming of footage for two new employee recruitment videos for the heat treat industry.

MTI Chapter Meetings

Members gathered in Gurnee, Illinois and Toronto, Canada this past week to network, discuss industry issues, and hear a highly engaging keynote speaker on The Art and Science of Influencing People.  MTI 2019 President, Jamie Jones from Solar Atmospheres, and Tom Morrison, CEO of MTI Management, visited member plants throughout the region during the day with meetings taking place in the evening.  President Jones stated, “It is great to step away from the busyness of work and visit with members locally, to hear and see how their plants are doing, and get their feedback on industry issues that MTI is working on.”

MTI Technical Standards Meeting

MTI’s Technical Standards Committee met in early March to discuss and report on the various activities on CQI-9 revision, AMS 2759/2750/2769, slash specs, and the recent Nadcap meeting.  Many topics were discussed, including: process table revisions, pyrometry, training, auditor consistency, timing of post audit survey, and working with staff engineers to solve findings.  The leadership of the Committee will provide a full member report on the key elements of the meeting on the next Heat Treat LIVE webcast on April 10th at 2 pm EST.   It is important that you and your team tune in and stay informed on the progress of the specification review process and activities so you stay ahead of the changes coming your way.

Filming Complete for Employee Recruitment Videos

During the Midwest Chapter Meeting plant tours, MTI and their video team captured the stories of owners and employees to share the excitement and opportunities there are working in the heat treating industry. With recruitment of the next generation a top priority, MTI will be releasing two more videos in late summer that will give every member a four-video series to place on their website, share with local schools, students, or any employee looking for a career.  With every industry pushing to recruit young people, MTI’s goal is to provide members key tools and resources to empower you locally to attract a new generation of workers to your plant. Once completed, MTI will send the links to every member for use.  To view the first two videos already available, click below:
